MOUNTAIN TRAIL RIDES IN SICILY

A mountain trail ride in Sicily – an unforgettable experience! Seasoned riders who have been on a horse trek, can tell you it is an experience never to be forgotten. And the Sicilian mountains are ideal for this. They offer spectacular scenery combined to a sense of freedom and space not easily found in Europe.

Best weather in Europe – In Sicily 10 months of almost summerlike weather means that you are practically guaranteed great weather (can’t promise though!), whilst the altitude also means that the hot days turn into lovely cool night in the hottest of months.

Superb Horses – The horses are well trained and friendly.

Lovely stays every night – At the end of each day we arrive at a beautiful rural accommodation in the countryside and relax with dips in the pools, followed by proudly prepared Sicilian multi-course meals accompanied by wine and laughter! What better way to finish the day.

Two types of trail rides – We are offering 2 types of trail rides in Sicily: ‘Standard’ and ‘Soft’.
The trail rides in Sicily don’t demand that you have done trail riding previously but they do require you to be a fairly competent rider, confident in all gaits.
During the 'Standard' trail (4 days) we cover a distance of approx. 120 kms, on average 30 kms per day, this is 6 to 8 hours of riding, depending on the terrain.
We will be trotting and do some speedy gallops along the way, so you need to be comfortable with all gaits and be able to spend many hours in the saddle.
However, this is not a 'difficult' trek, the difficulty level is average, so the pace remains comfortable even for less experienced trail-riders.

The ‘Soft’ trail is very similar to the standard version, except we cover a distance of about 60-80 kms, this is 3 to 4 hours of riding per day. We arrive at our daily destination earlier and have more time to relax around the pool, etc... Where possible we might even visit a nearby town for a short sightseeing tour.

Group discounts are available for this trek (email us for more details!). info@hippo-trail.be
